Enhancing Distribution Capabilities with Port Proximity

In an effort to keep up with demand and optimize its reach in the Southeast, Halsted has established a new warehousing facility less than five miles from the Port of Savannah. As the second busiest container terminal on the East Coast, the Port of Savannah provides an ideal location for Halsted to continue to expand its reach.

The port’s position along the Atlantic Coast means shorter transit times, cost savings, and meeting customer demands promptly. With the Port of Savannah handling a vast volume of container shipments, being close by reduces the time between goods landing and availability in the warehouse.

Linking the Northeast Corridor to the Gulf Coast

Halsted’s newest location seamlessly links distributors to I-95 and I-16 with a direct connection to I-75, offering easier access to Florida, states along the Northeast Corridor, the Gulf Coast, and Eastern Texas. This network of interstates allows for an uninterrupted flow of goods, reducing travel time and enhancing delivery speed. For distributors, these connections mean avoiding the complexities and congestion of smaller roads while allowing for more flexible routing options to optimize delivery schedules.

Location-Specific Preparedness

In a previous article, Halsted discussed the importance of aligning your brand with a partner who understands the advantage of building resilience through diverse product offerings and strategic locations. By maintaining two warehouses along the Atlantic Coast and another in Lodi, CA, all housing substantial inventories, Halsted has demonstrated its commitment to reliability and efficiency. This newest warehousing location further strengthens this position within the industry.

This commitment to trust can also be fostered through adaptability and preparedness in times of crisis or natural disaster. Those who live along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts know the impact of hurricane season all too well. The 2024 hurricane season is already predicted to be historically treacherous, with more than 25 named storms expected to form between June 1 and November 30. Halsted’s direct-to-distributor model ensures that when communities are in need, they aren’t left wanting. With a unique end-to-end approach, distributors gain access to competitively sourced, resilient, and dependable products.

Weathering the Elements with a Vast Stock Inventory

In an effort to stay ahead of the severe weather conditions along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, Halsted’s Savannah location will hold a surplus of polypropylene sandbags in a variety of standard stock sizes and colors. These bags are UV-treated for extended outdoor life and include built-in tie strings for easy closure. Volume pricing, custom sandbag colors, and custom printing are also available.

In addition, the facility will house an extensive stock inventory of Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs) and a broad inventory of its top-selling small bags designed to meet its customers’ unique demands.

Exploring the Benefits of Transportation Logistics

The Savannah location will offer same-day shipping for its stock inventory products to address the need for speed and efficiency in the packaging industry. Additionally, drop-shipping will be available, allowing businesses to leverage the well-established distribution network near the Port of Savannah, saving distributors time and resources while ensuring products reach the end customers promptly.

The chart below details the cost and transit time disparities between our Cranbury, NJ, and our new Savannah, GA, locations based on a shipment of five pallets.
